The Living River project was a Battersea Arts Centre collaboration to engage young people with the River Wandle through a series of creative workshops in 2017, culminating in an original outdoor promenade performance.
Budding young script-writers, performers, singers, poets and comedians (amongst many other talents!) were encouraged to explore the heritage of the river and use it as inspiration to create show-stopping pieces performed for audiences at a number of events held as part of Wandle Fortnight 2017.
Members of the public were led on an immersive journey along the Wandle to the beat of song, dance, poetry, theatre and comedy bringing the river’s history to life!
The project was part of Battersea Arts Centre’s Homegrown initiative, which links young people aged 16-29 to professional artists to be creative, learn new skills and make original performance. For more details about the project contact Lara Taylor on larat@bac.org.uk or 020 7223 2223.
