The Wandle Piscators founded in 2004, is a mixed species, mixed method fishing club based on the River Wandle. The club is committed to improving the water quality and species health of this historic urban chalk stream after pollution incidents over the years have often caused the river to dramatically degrade.

The club ran a project between 2015 – 2017 to engage young people with fishing on the Wandle by offering free angling taster sessions to the public, running a variety of one-off community events and delivering coaching sessions to primary schools.

A junior angling team was formed called the “Young Piscators” who took part in the 2016 London Youth Games. The club also worked with Wandle Valley School to establish an AQA fishing qualification for their students.

An “Anglers Guide to the Wandle” has also been developed for the interest of novice and expert anglers, available since early 2018. You can get your hands on a hard copy by clicking here, or borrowing from your local library.
