Wandle Fortnight is an annual programme of events and activities celebrating the River Wandle organised by the community, for the community.

The river celebration has taken place throughout the Living Wandle Partnership Scheme since 2014, building on the success of the Wandle Valley Festival held in 2013.

Community groups and local organisations were invited to host a variety of activities over a two-week period during the summer, encouraging residents of the Wandle Valley to explore its heritage, recreation and interest activities on offer and to connect them better with the river and its surrounds.

Wandle Fortnight has grown in success over the years, with a rising number of events leading to hundreds of people enjoying the fortnight festivities; a record-breaking 70+ events were hosted in 2017 by 56 different community groups!

A micro-grants scheme was also funded as part of this project, enabling smaller community groups to organise and deliver events as part of the wider programme; 9 community groups were awarded micro-grant funding in 2016 followed by  23 groups in 2017.

The Living Wandle Partnership collaborated with Wandle Valley Forum to host the celebrations in 2016 & 2017. The annual programme will continue in future organised by Wandle Valley Forum in collaboration with the Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust.
